'Arabic script: Design into Art' lecture poster

Working as assistant professor at the Graphic Design department of VCUQ I had the pleasure to invite DecoType as guest lecturers to our department. Among their activities was a public lecture in the atrium of the university. The lecture focused on some aspects of the design approach brought forward by the Dutch company, hence it was appropriate to base the concept on DecoType's thinking. It was the first time that I had the opportunity to use the Tasmeem software, jointly developed by DecoType and WinSoft, and its power and versatility were compelling. It takes Arabic typography to a yet unknown level of excellence and ease. In the design of the poster I tried to visualise the analytical and scientific approach towards design brought forward by DecoType. The deconstruction of the script, key to Tasmeem, is depicted by the outlined elements in the background. The colour palette hints at the Ottoman and Persian influences in DecoType's work.
